What is Freely to You all about? What can it do for me?

Hi, thanks for picking up this book, we’re glad you did. As a bonus to you – you can keep it, its yours to take away, give to someone else, or return to the shelf and swap for another.

Why? God has been fantastically kind and loving to us, and it’s something we want – and indeed that God wants us – to share with you personally! The Bible tells us:

“Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8)

God has given us everything without cost to ourselves, so we want to pass this on to you without charge too.
We believe these books can help you understand God, and help you find out what He wants with you, and why He wants us to tell you about Him so much; and the short version of the story is…

God loves you

Yes, He loves you. Not because he loves everyone else anyway, and its not just mere words. He really does Love you, top to bottom, tip to toe and inside out, and better yet, He wants a relationship with you.

The problem is that there is a barrier between God and Us, a tear in the natural fabric of things that prevents us having a relationship with Him, our natural state of being. The cause of this is Sin, and because God is righteous and holy, and he cannot tolerate sin at all.

What is sin? Surely I haven’t sinned?

Sin is deliberate rebellion against God, and every one of us does it. You see God, like all loving parents, gave mankind a choice, he gave Us Free Will, the right to choose whether to love and obey Him. And, mankind blew it, in every possible way, even today whilst we think we are so much cleverer and more civilized than people long ago, we still choose to rebel against God and his Word, and the result is a world in a mess, and a broken relationship with God. Now, sin is fact, if you doubt this, just look outside your window at the world around; greed, war, lust, murder, lies, hatred, jealousy, suspicion, doubt, hopelessness, even between family and friends. We all do it, if you think you don’t, just ask yourself if you have ever lied, or have hated someone in your heart, if so – you have already broken 2 of Gods commandments, you have sinned. It’s all so easy to us, and tragically, so addictive and destructive, it hurts us, our friends and family, and it hurts God.

This sounds bleak? Can’t I do something?

By yourself? No you cannot; the rift is so big mankind cannot fix it, But God can, God is big enough, powerful enough and righteous enough to fix that tear and mend that relationship. He did this all those years ago by taking human form, living a blameless life amongst us, and then taking the blame for us all, dying on a cross, paying the price with His own blood, for once and for all, and He did it with a name –

Jesus

Now, God’s promise is this; if you turn from your sins (repent) and believe in Jesus, trusting that He died for you, and trusting in Him to help you, God will not only wipe the slate clean forever, but all heaven will cheer and God himself will come running to you with open arms and a hug, and he will be yours forever. You will get a new life, a new heart, and the greatest relationship you could ever want.

The price is … nothing. God gives all this through grace (because He wants to), He gives it Freely to You.

Whats Next?

If you haven’t done so already, grab yourself a bible now. There are different “versions” because some use easier English than others, if you aren’t sure, you can ask the staff at the church you found the book in. Keep it and read it, it’s yours. It is the story of God’s attempts to mend the relationship between us and Himself. The other books are aids or helps (to help you read and understand the Bible), or individual Gospels – New Testament stories of the good news about Jesus which you might find easier to read or carry. There should be a brief guide on the wall or bookshelf, again, ask if you aren’t so sure. Above all take what you honestly need and please, read it. You are bound to have questions, and people are really keen to help you out with these, so don’t be afraid to ask. You can ask them of us emailing us at newquestions@freelytoyou.org, or by asking on the Forum on the website ( http://www.freelytoyou.org ).

Better yet, because its good to talk, you can ask questions of the people at the church you found the bookcase in, they may well be even able to help you email us a question if you have it, and will be happy to listen to you and to pray for you. Please Remember:

1} God loves you!

2] This book is Free to you!

Now go read about Him, and know that we are praying for you and God to get together. God bless you in your reading, and in your life. Love and best wishes, The Freely to You Team
